That’s the number of states that have legalized adult-use marijuana now that Michigan’s laws went into effect Dec. 6.
However, Michigan’s approach is dramatically different from the proposed way New Jersey will enact legislation.
Michigan state regulators have yet to draft rules and regulations for commercial sales; the first commercial sales aren’t expected until 2020. However, residents can grow up to 12 plants in their homes for personal use and they can give — but not sell — the product to friends and family.
Currently, there are no plans for home grow in New Jersey and the turn-around from enactment to sales is expected to be tighter.
